Born in Montreal in 1947, Robert Dunlop's formal training includes studies at Studio 5316 and in the Bachelor of Fine Arts programme at Concordia University. More recently, he was active on the art scene in Quebec City for over a decade, where he had a professional workshop in Les Ateliers du Roulement à Billes (RAB), before returning to Montreal.
The subject of Robert Dunlop's Master's thesis at the University of Montreal was a comparison of the interests of poet William Wordsworth and painter John Constable in external nature as a creative inspiration.
In this exhibition Robert Dunlop explores the realms of external nature in his own personal way. Some paintings employ a traditional painterly style, while others lean toward a portrayal of the chaotic side of nature in relation to psychological states. In both instances the painter invites the viewer to contemplate the beauty of all facets of nature.
Paintings acrylic on canvas. All dimensions in inches.
