Various Pylons and Electrical Equipment in a Substation - May 01, 2026

 

I found this gem of an Anchor pylon in an electrical substation outside a small town and ended up taking numerous shots of its various pylons and other electrical equipment.  These are photos of what I've published up to date.  Enjoy!

The Best of Vava Vol Pylons -- March 26, 2026

In the summer of June 2025, I posted a 2018 photo taken from the inside-up of an electrical pylon on my Instagram page.  It was such a successful post that it lit a fire under my feet!  On my morning bike rides, I began capturing the numerous pylons nearby along the parks, streets, substations, expressways and highways. As I photographed these beautiful structures, I discovered pylons and more along the way.

I was curious to see if there was an Instagram community of like enthusiasts and did a search.  Bingo!  To my pleasant surprise, there certainly was one and I haven't stopped photographing these high voltage steel towers and interacting with their passionate pylon lovers since then! 

The first photo displayed here was the pylon that re-ignited my passion for these towers and kept me very busy last summer shooting these magnificent monoliths.    

Since then I have amassed a substantial stock of photos of my beloved pylons, so stay tuned for more Volumes of the Best of Vava Vol Pylons.  Cheers!
