Vava Vol Scanart Project 2024 - November 2024

In 2020-2021, I began working on my first Scanart Project compilation of photos. I recently decided to jump start that project in October and the images herein are those I created in November.

As I scan and compile images to my digital library of stock photos, I utilize them for various creative projects such as my music videos, as profile photos, albums covers and track lists, Instagram stories, colorful posts on my blog and whatever comes to mind.  I hope you enjoy this project and I look forward to working on December's scans.  Thanks for stopping by!

Autumn Is In The Air - October 22, 2024

Fall is still in the air where I live.  Even though out mornings are getting darker and cooler, it's always a joy to get up early and get some shots!

Having had a super summer, it's wonderful to watch the landscape gracefully change its colors and listen to the cool fresh breeze rustling the carpet of leaves around us. Yellow, orange, red and gold are the vibrant palette of colors decorating our Canadian woods, mountains, urban streets and lake lands.   Soon we'll be seeing the morning frost and bare trees, reminding us that old man winter is on his way!

I hope you enjoy these photos I took in this beautiful park surrounding a man made lake.  Every spring, the Canadian geese and Mallard ducks migrate to these neighborhood parks to nest.  Here, they enjoy our warm and dry summer until their departure beckons them to warmer climes with their young flocks in tow.

I cherish the annual four seasons we experience here. They're magical, good for the soul and mostly great photo ops for us outdoor photography enthusiasts.  Nothing compares to the beauty of nature.  Be kind to it!

For the Love of Pylons - October 10, 2024

"This post is warmly dedicated to all who admire and love pylons, insulators, corona rings, power plants and everything else that is the electrical transmission grid that sustains and supplies our daily lives with precious electricity."

Last week, I got up early to catch the beautiful sunny day and was out shooting pylons and electrical lines for this post.  It was a cold, windy a.m., but the autumn sun made up for it.  I got busy getting these shots with one of my recently refurbished vintage Pentax digital cameras and am happy to report its performance was stellar.

I live in the outskirts of my city and my hood is a few blocks away from a behemoth power station which provides electricity to the entire south east side. Before our subdivision was developed in in the early 2000s, it was vast farmland and acreages, thus the wooden power line poles and aged electrical lines still exist in some areas of the hood.

They haven't been replaced with newer ones but but I'm okay with that.  It's a statement to these poles and transmission equipment that they were solidly made and have passed the test of time.  Why fix it if it's not broke!

Did you know the Eiffel Tower was designed like a large pylon?  If you are interested, have a peek at the fascinating 'Origins and Construction of the Eiffel Tower'.

Eiffel Tower History

More to come as the weather gets colder and the frost and snow do their chilly thing!  Enjoy my photos and thanks for stopping by!
